Our mission

Our Mission

Closing gaps — the definition of our work since 2015.

Mission

The mission today

Japan is worth entering, and hard to enter. Language, business practice, hiring, licences. For an international owner, the barriers to holding a business in Japan remain out of all proportion to the attraction of the market itself.

Owner-run businesses are worth passing on, and hard to pass on. In many Japanese companies the critical work and judgement live inside one person, and cannot be handed over as they are. The real wall in succession is rarely the lack of a successor — it is the lack of a system.

Our mission is to close both gaps by doing, not advising: build the entity, fix the operation, turn one person’s know-how into procedures, and hand over a business that demonstrably runs — taking the Representative Director’s seat where that is what it takes.

Roots

Where this comes from

Until 2008 our founder built and ran the Japanese arm of a foreign recruitment firm as its founding president. Meeting over a thousand candidates and more than a hundred client companies, he kept seeing the same waste: experienced, motivated professionals passed over for the number of employers on their CV, while companies went short of exactly their skills.

GOS was founded in 2015 to solve that waste as a business: when seasoned professionals take on the work itself, a varied career stops being a liability and becomes adaptability. In that form we served more than fifty companies, half Japanese and half foreign-owned.

In 2026, with AI carrying the routine work, we redefined the gap we close: from the one between professionals and companies, to the one between the Japanese market and its would-be owners — and between one person’s head and a system. The method changed. The essence of the work — connecting value that is not yet connected — has not.

Start by reading one report.

Choose from three: supply chain (inventory, service, forecast), financial (margin, collection, cash) or management review (strategy to this month’s decisions). Each runs to six pages: an eight-KPI summary, three findings with what each one costs, and three next actions. Synthetic data — no client figures — but the structure and the KPI definitions are the ones we use.
